I sometimes see mysterious sulfur lump in the vicinity area of crater I.
Those lumps of sulfur seemed to be blown by the explosion at crater I but
I wonder how this lump in the photograph were created.
The documented molten sulfur flow is shown in the map above. But the sulfur lump in the photograph were observed just east of Crater I where its elevation is higher than Crater I. So the sulfur lump was blown by the explosion at Crater I. .
1号火口周辺にはふしぎな硫黄片を見ることがある。このあたりの硫黄は1号火口の爆発で吹き飛ばされた溶融硫黄だと考えられるが、いったいどのようにしてこの写真のような硫黄片ができたのかはナゾだ。
1936年の溶融硫黄噴火では、硫黄は上の地図に示したルートを流れたが、上の写真の硫黄は1号火口の東側斜面で見つけた。1号火口より標高が高いところなのでやはり爆発により吹き飛ばされた硫黄なのだろう
